The inception workshop in Bogor officially launched the IndoDairy Project. The purpose of this workshop was to update dairy stakeholders in West Java and North Sumatera on the project goals and objectives as well as involve participants in discussion about the challenges facing dairy development.
First Meeting of policy working group discussion was held in Bogor. The purpose of this meeting was to initiate the engagement of policy makers in Indonesian dairy industry in the project.
A baseline survey was conducted with 600 dairy farmers in West Java. The purpose was to understand the current practices, perceptions and aspirations for their dairy enterprise. The findings from the survey will inform the design of the extension activities. The data will also be used as a point of reference; a 'before and after' comparison to understand what the impacts of the project had.
Increasing the size of the Indonesian dairy herd is fundamental to increasing national milk supply from small holders. Increasing the number of heifers imported annually is one option to achieving this outcome. The purpose of this workshop was to meet with representatives from the public and private sector, to understand the challenges and opportunities facing heifer importation in Indonesia.
